Within the dynamic research cooperation of the Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Science the INGWERK GmbH takes part in the research project electrical drive technology for the industrial development of integrated production processes of magnetic structures on the surface of rotors.
Rotors with permanent magnets in electrical rotating heavy duty machines are currently assembled in a extensive process with seperate preproduced rare earth magnets. Thus, the geometrical shape of the magnets which fulfill the requirements on mechanical properties in a rotor in very limited.

The new production process should merge conventional and new production methods of additive manufacturing in a way that permanent magnetic structures can directly be applied onto the rotort surfaces. This integration of different production methods leads to an increase in process efficiency since complex production and assembling efforts can be reduced. Furthermore, the increased freedom in the design of the rotors leads to an increase in the performance of the complete electrical power unit.

This project is cofinanced by the European Fonds for regional development (EFRE).
